Catherine Willows is a crime scene investigator and a supervisor at the Las Vegas Crime Lab. She was born on the 26th of March, 1963 to an ex-showgirl mother, Lily Flynn, and a casino mogul father, Sam Braun.

Despite a rich father, her life hasn’t been easy. However close she was to Sam, it was only in her adult life when he killed someone and she found out he was her biological father. Her ambition didn’t always include law enforcement. She's had her share of struggle, pain and dull moments. She worked as an exotic dancer to support herself and her boyfriend, Eddie Willows, whom she later ended up marrying. Eddie and Catherine had a fast paced and passionate relationship which resulted in an ugly divorce and deep wounds.

Ironically her biggest achievement comes out of that marriage. Her daughter, Lindsey, is a teenager now and she’s the joy of her life, even if her lifestyle often makes single parenthood tough. Her only help is her mother, who can be difficult at times.

She strives to get what she wants by working hard and making plans while staying within reasonable boundaries. Her stripping career may have not been the ideal one but it supported her financially, the thrill and physical improvement satisfied her need for a wild and ecstatic life. Unfortunately it pushed her into the world of coke, too.

Catherine’s never been one to live a life that she doesn’t enjoy anymore. Knowing her lifestyle was doing no good to her, she kicked the drug habit and went for a newfound love; science. She earned a B.S. in Medical Technology, at UNLV, with a specialty of blood spatter analysis. She eventually divorced Eddie. He passed away a couple of years later in a car accident which almost claimed their daughter’s life too.

Catherine loves solving puzzles and that was one of the main lures of being a CSI. She started as a lab tech but slowly worked her way up to supervisor over the years. Although definitely a hard worker, Catherine has many flaws as well as questionable family ties. Her relationship to Sam Braun was a complicated one. Their loving relationship turned upside down when it was revealed that he was a killer – as well as her biological father. Her feelings remained conflicted all along however, because she felt unable to forgive for the life long secret.

Although her father was the source of many dangers for her professional as well as personal life --including almost getting raped and having Lindsey kidnapped, the long years of support and love he gave her couldn’t just be erased. Tragedy stuck when Sam was fatally shot, dying in her arms before they could have had any kind of resolution.

Ever the one who seeks human contact, Catherine had numerous relationships, none of which evolved into more than satisfying her physical needs. There was only one man she admitted having feelings for – Warrick Brown. Her loneliness, the tragedies and an unsuccessful personal life made Catherine emotionally less prepared for the liking she took in a new transfer named Mike Keppler. But as a man with a dark and secret past, he met his untimely demise in front of Catherine’s worried eyes.

Unfortunately losing people -one way or another- had become a major theme in her life. Aside from the aforementioned tragedies, a murdered best friend and a fallen old mentor all contributed to her unfortunate and extensive knowledge of disappointment. Catherine is a people person with a deep understanding of what makes Sin City tick. She’s tough and tenacious who won’t hesitate to stand her ground if necessary. She’s also quite flawed, however, which results in mistakes and wrong choices.
